Out of Sight, Out of Salad

ADHD + object permanence means if I can’t see it, it basically doesn’t exist.
Groceries? Forgotten in drawers.
Bills? “Organized” in folders, never to be seen again.
That one “safe spot”? A black hole.

The fridge is the worst offender. I tuck things away thinking, “This will stay fresh here, I’ll remember.” But my brain works like: Out of sight = out of mind. By the time I rediscover it, the lettuce has evolved into a science experiment.

It’s funny in a sad way – how something so small can feel like such a struggle. It’s not laziness or carelessness. It’s that ADHD brains often rely on visibility to remember. If it’s hidden, it’s gone.

So yeah, I forget the lettuce. But I also remember the exact random fact I read three years ago about penguins. That’s how this brain works. Imperfect, unpredictable, but uniquely wired.
