Bedtime delay

|

Every single night, I tell myself the same sweet little lie: “Early night tonight.”
I believe it, too.
I picture myself peacefully asleep before midnight, waking up refreshed, ready to conquer the morning.

And then…
I remember something I wanted to look up.
Just one thing.
Five minutes, tops.

But somehow, “quick check” turns into:

Reading the comment section of a random recipe blog.

Watching videos on how to build a yurt (I do not need a yurt).

Learning the exact migration routes of monarch butterflies.

By the time I look at the clock, it’s 2:14am. Again.
My brain is wired like a toddler at a birthday party, refusing to stop because something interesting might happen.

This is the bedtime trap for so many neurodivergent folks: the world gets quieter, distractions fade, and suddenly… we’re free to follow every spark of curiosity without interruption.
It feels amazing in the moment.
It feels awful in the morning.

So, here’s my little self-reminder:
Your curiosity is a gift.
But sleep is too.
Close the tab. Put down the phone.
Tomorrow-you will thank you, even if tonight-you rolls your eyes about it.
